BLOG: R.I.P. Mommy

Never knew I was this strong…

Like they say… everything happens for a reason.

There’s a reason why my mother went into the hospital in July. There’s a reason why she had to stay there for almost two months. It readied us and prepared us for something I never thought I was strong enough to handle..

September 14, 2009, my Mother passed away..

My sister and I pulled together, got everything done that needed to be done before, during, and after the services..

I am now the full-time caregiver for my Dad, who has Alzheimer’s.

On October 10, 2009 I picked myself back up and began my workouts again. Working out is my stress release, so why wasn’t I doing what I needed most at the time?!

In the time of her illness and death, I unfortunately gained 15 pounds. Round 1 with ChaLEAN Extreme, I started at 205 lbs in May 4th, 2009. Thankfully I didn’t wait until I LITERALLY had to start all over… I went back to 197lbs. Did my mom have to pass to show me how amazingly strong I am? That I can do it if I just put my mind to it? That I can handle things better than I thought I could? That I can take care of my dad, this house, work, exercise and still be able to smile everyday… is that all because she had to leave to show me that? People probably think that losing 80 pounds in one month was the hardest and strongest thing I’ve done in my life..

I’d be quick to correct them now…

RIP Mommy 4/6/1944 – 9/14/2009
