BLOG: Peloton Recall After One Child Death and Several Incidents and Injuries

Peloton announces two recalls for their Tread and Tread+ Treadmills due to risk of injury.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) previously warned consumers of Peloton Tread+ Treadmill injuries back in April 2021 when one small child died, and it injured many other children and pets after being sucked BENEATH the Tread+ Treadmill.

You cannot avoid the issue by locking the device when not in use. Peloton is working on additional hardware modifications to better protect consumers. If you have purchased the Tread+ treadmill, and wish to return it, you may contact Peloton for a full refund.

Adult users, children, pets and objects can be pulled underneath the rear of the treadmill, posing a risk of injury or death.

On Peloton’s Tread Treadmill, the large touchscreen monitor can detach and fall off causing injury. They have reported no injuries for this product as of May 2021.

If you have purchased the Tread treadmill and wish to return it, you may contact Peloton for a full refund. Peloton Tread consumers who do not want a refund for their Tread treadmill have the option of a future repair. The repair would further secure the touchscreen to the treadmill to help prevent future incidents. Peloton will provide a release date for that option at a later date.
